It has come to my attention that certain mammals participate in group hunts. Such hunts vary across land and sea, with prey ranging from fish to zebra, and even beyond. In fact, this behavior extends to birds and even spiders.

When it comes to the study of Dance in Living Systems, the largest body of knowledge (by which we mean, not the largest bodied dancer, but simply the most information to draw from), is that of humans. While this body of knowledge has both breadth and depth, in this essay, it will be used as an introduction to a greater mystery, the study of Dance in Animals. When a seabird sits on the ocean, is it really dancing when it bobs up and down? Is a spider performing an elaborate waltz when it moves so effortlessly along its web, and, is its prey (the fly or the gnat) really just a partner in this dance?
